Jonathan Eley represented Team GB in short track speed skating at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The Vancouver Games were Eley's second Olympic Winter Games having previously competed at the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games where he finished fifth.
At the Vancouver Games Eley placed sixth in the 500m and 18th in the 1000m skating a personal best time of 1:25:855. Eley was a member of the 5000m relay team who also placed sixth.
Eley took up short track at the age of 12 to try and help improve his ice hockey skills.
At 6"2 he is unusually tall for a speed skater and was ranked third in the world at his specialist event, 500m.
Eley is a Manchester United fan and also follows cricket and golf. He cites Roger Federer as his sporting hero, because 'he always makes it look easy'.
