Alcott 25th at Giant Slalom Halfway Mark as Second Run Postponed

Team GB’s Chemmy Alcott will go into tomorrow’s (Thursday) second run of the women’s giant slalom in 25th place.

Alcott clocked a time of 1:17.53 in her opening run, putting her 2.41 seconds off the time of Elisabeth Goergl (AUT), the event leader at the halfway mark.

But fog thickened on the Whistler Creekside course ahead of the second run and the jury decided to postpone it until Thursday, starting at 9.30am local time.

Alcott said: "I went into it to charge today. I made a couple of mistakes, so I'm pretty pleased to be only 2.41 seconds out. It's a good position to be in going into the second run.

"If I can finish 15th or 20th it would be a good move up for me,” added the Londoner.
