After her exploits on the slopes The "Chemmy Supporter Hoodie" became a must have fashion item. At her debut Olympics the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games, aged only 18, she competed in all five events and finished 14th in the combined.
Alcott started to ski when she was just 18 months old and took part in her first fun race when she was three.

She took silver and bronze medals at the European Youth Winter Olympic days in 1999(SG-silver, SG – Bronze). At 19 years old, Alcott had already established herself as a leading competitor in her age group and was ranked top 10 in the world for her year of birth. She halved her ranking in all disciplines, the biggest improvement being downhill where Alcott jumped from 683rd to 126th over the course of the 2001-2 season. Her Olympic debut followed but the breakthrough at world level came six years later with with a career best 9th at the FIS World Cup in Cortina in January 2004.
