Lesley McKenna represented Team GB in snowboard half pipe at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The Vancouver Games were McKenna's third Olympic Winter Games and she placed 30th.
McKenna competed in her second Olympic Winter Games in the Turin, finishing 33rd in the snowboard half pipe. She was the only snowboarder for Team GB in Salt Lake in 2002, where she finished 17th after suffering from a shoulder injury in the build up to the games.
She has been competing at snowboarding since 1998 and won the World Cup events at Sapporo and Tandadalen, Sweden in 2003. Before her snowboarding career she was a skiier
McKenna has a unique place in British snowsport – she is the only UK snowboarder ever to have won a World Cup halfpipe event. In fact, in 2003 she won two World Cup events and also stands as the only UK snowboarder ever to have led the World Cup standings.
McKenna started skiing at the age of three and began snowboarding at the age of ten. She is cousin to alpine skiers Alain and Noel Baxter.
She says the secret to her success is getting a good night’s sleep before competition.
